Re: Anyone work/worked in OB/GYN or Pediatrics?

No, but be aware that if you work family practice you will se a lot of it also. In family practice I did all of the WCC check ins and immunizations, as well as the prenatal check ins and such.

Re: Anyone work/worked in OB/GYN or Pediatrics?

I work in OB/GYN.

I room pt's, take history on new ob's, check fetal heart tones, assist the Dr. in annual exams, cervix checks (well that is only putting gel on a glove but they will still want a chaperone with a cervix check.) assist in office surgery. ie. LEEP, ECC/CX BX ,we just started doing ablations , Colpo's assist with IUD insert and removal.....put pt's on for NST's,
I give Rhogam, Rocephin, Flu Shots,Dep Provera and Depo Lupron... Just recently they started putting me in the lab(we have a 1 chair draw station) when the regular lab person is off. That is a hard job. So much going on in there. So I'm thinking of getting certified in Phlebotomy since I now do so much of it. I must have drawn 45 people today! ( we are a large 6 doc office)

Hope this gives a little insight to the job.
