1946 - 2009

Paul E. Skeens, DDS, 62, of Huntington, passed away Tuesday June 30, 2009 at his home, after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Paul was born November 30, 1946 in Diana, WV, in Webster County. He was the son of Rev. Bernard Ray Skeens, a Methodist minister and Ruby Bender Skeens. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three nephews; Michael Siron, Darin Skeens and Ray Skeens. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Skeens, an adoring son and wife Matt and Ryan Skeens and a daughter and husband Teah Lupton and Chris Michael. He is also survived by two brothers and wives; Mike and Cory Skeens of Stanardsville, Virginia and Richard and Hope Skeens of San Antonio, TX; a sister and husband Joann and Jim Siron of Doe Hill, VA and his sister Mary Skeens currently working in Iraq. Paul is also survived by a host of loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and numerous friends. Paul graduated from Marshall University and WVU School of Dentistry. He practiced in Ceredo, WV until his retirement in 2006. He was an avid golfer, bowler and hunter. Paul never met a stranger and had a positive impact on everyone he met. He attended Westmoreland United Methodist Church. He was a member of Spring Valley Country Club and Guyan Golf and Country Club. Paul was a member of Crescent Lodge #32 AF&AM of Ceredo, WV, Royal Arch Masons Chapter 6 of Huntington, a Scottish Rite Mason 32nd Degree Valley of Huntington, Elks Lodge 313 and a member of the SAR. Visitation will be 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm Thursday at Reger Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Friday at the Reger Funeral Chapel by Rev. Steve Grimes. Burial will follow in Spring Valley Memory Gardens, Huntington. The family would like to thank all who participated in his care, Hospice of Huntington, all the physicians, nurses and aides, his great niece Loren Siron, special care giver Kyle Jackson and his special friend, Tracie Friddle. Paul touched the hearts of everyone he knew and will be missed by all.
