Kendra Morgan-Barbara & Roy Morgan's daughter

Carolina (Agostine) Morgan McPeake, class of 1946, has informed me that Kendra Morgan, Carolina's granddaughter;Roy and Barbara Morgan's daughter;and sister of Heather, was hit and killed by a bus last Saturday, the 18th of May in Australia.
Please include Kendra and this wonderful family in your prayers.

My heartfelt condolences to Kendra's family and friends.

The Sydney Roller Derby League community is mourning the loss of an American student who died yesterday after being hit by a bus in Sydney on Sunday.

Kendra Morgan, known to the roller derby community as "2-Ton Teyla", was struck by a bus at 5am on Sunday when crossing Enmore Road in Sydney's inner west.

She sustained serious head injuries and was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital where she remained in a coma.

Ms Morgan's parents flew out from the United States, arriving yesterday afternoon. The 32-year-old was pronounced dead about 4.15pm.

Another woman, in her 20s, was also involved in the accident, and received treatment for leg injuries.

Ms Morgan, 32, is believed to have completed her master's degree in nursing at the University of Sydney last year, having previously studied physiology at the University of Delaware.

On her MySpace webpage she had written: "i like roller derby, sleeping, good coffee, my girlfriend, riding my bike, thunderstorms but not riding my bike in one, pancake, and craigslist, living in australia ... my feet rarely touch the ground. when they do, they're on wheels ... "

The roller derby community had been sending messages of hope for her recovery online since the news of her injuries broke.

Last night they posted condolences on Facebook.

Melissa Ann Podboj wrote: "today we may have lost a dear friend, sister, wife, lover, daughter, mentor and hero, but she has left such a legacy that she will live on in our hearts and in our skating. Let us bout for her, train for her and most importantly booty block for her. She is the spirit of derby- let it live on with us all."

Others recounted their memories. Anne Lander said she "remembers 2-Ton Teyla squishing me in to some mighty tight latex after holding down a referee for me to beat up after the very first Canberra Roller Derby League bout. Great memories to have of such an awesome person."
