Does anyone remember the fantastic Congo squares and brownies served at the cafeteria in the late 50s and early 60s at the Welch High School cafeteria? Two wonderful women (I can't remember their names) cooked in the kitchen and made those delicious treats. The Congo squares were loaded with chocolate chips and were about 2 1/2 inches thick. The brownies were so rich with chocolate they were almost black. They were either 5 cents or a dime apiece. They were so g-o-o-o-o-o-d!! Would love to have the recipes.
My favorite was the baggies of hot potato sticks. I believe that Mrs. Novince was one of the cooks. Her daughter was 1968 grad and unfortunately died soon after graduation.
