Kimball/Welch is a perfect location for a Zip line !!!

McDowell County caters to ATVing, hunting, and fishing for tourist. They come from all over to participate in these activities. When I grew up in Kimball, it was a perfect place because of drastic elevation changes for winter snow sledding. Looking at all of the Zip Lines popping up all over the place, Kimball and Welch is a perfect location to attract additional tourist with a Zip Line installation. The terrain in McDowell County is perfect for a Zip Line. It would give tourist extra incentive to visit. A Zip Line in Kimball before "Kimball Kids" would be icing on the cake!! Any suggestions??

What is a zip line?

Re: Kimball/Welch is a perfect location for a Zip line !!!

As David knows, we used to start at the top of the hill behind the Kimball High School and sleigh ride down the open drain, down past Charlotte Day's home; down around the curve, down, down, finally a decision.

Would we turn straight down the hill past the Gattuso's at 100 mph down to the Elk Horn Creek and sure death at WV Route 52. Or, would we turn down to the VFW Hall and stop where a fire was burning in an old oil drum. Or, turn there and continue down past the Sherriff's (Arthur King, how is that for a royal name, home until we reached the foot of the hill.

A zip line in any one of these directions would be amazing.

But then again, I am just a Kimball Kid.

CH: IT A LINE BETWEEN TWO DIFFERENT ELEVATIONS. THE RIDER IS HARNESSED, ATTACHED TO THE LINE AND FREE FALLS TO LOWER END. YOU CAN SEE A ZIP LINE IN THE NEW GEICO COMMERCIALS WITH THE PIG AND PIN WHEELS.
