Jim Rich, Welch High School class of 1950, will be inducted into the McDowell County Sports Hall of Fame on Sunday, June 8, 2014 at Mount View High School. Jim was an outstanding basketball player at Welch High School and Washington and Lee University. Jim is most deserving of this honor.

This is a richly deserved award. Jim was the first "big" center that WHS ever had, standing I believe at 6'4". Our coach at that time was Scotty Hamilton, the former WVU authentic All-American. Jim was a prolific scorer and a gentleman. Congrats.
