Patricia J. Johnson, 77

Patricia J. Johnson, 77, of Green Cove Springs, FL passed away July 1, 2017. She was a native of Elbert, West Virginia but called Vienna, Virginia “home” most of her adult life. Patricia moved to Green Cove Springs in 2012 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. She graduated from Welch High School in 1958 and obtained an Associate of Arts degree from Northern Virginia Community College. Her career life was spent as an executive secretary as well as other positions at the Washington Gas Light Company until she retired. She returned to work at the Washington Gas Light Federal Credit Union for many years.

She enjoyed organizing reunions for her graduating class, as well as many others, at Welch High School. Keeping in touch with dear friends brought her much joy. Her greatest happiness in life came from her family and she spent as much time with them as possible. Her grandchildren were her biggest hobby.

Ms. Johnson was preceded in death by her parents James John Friel Sr. and Jane Laurian Kroski Friel. She is survived by her daughter, Laura Johnson Tracy; brothers, James Friel Jr. and George Friel; sisters, Cornelia Jennings and Sarita Ann Faught; stepsons, James Johnson (Rebecca) and Dale Johnson (Jessie); stepdaughter, Joyce Kerns (James); grandchildren, Adam Tracy (Sarah), Kristina Bates Logue (Shane), Shannon Bates (Matthew), Emma Tracy, Allison Tracy, Eric Johnson, Aaron Johnson (Kori), Justin Johnson (Victoria), Kirk Allen Tyler II, Racheal Kerns, and Jacob Kerns; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Tyson, Preston, Layton, Ariella, Charlee, and William; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am Saturday, July 15, 2017 in the chapel of Russell Haven of Rest. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sjogren’s Syndrome Foundation, https://www.sjogrens.org/main-payment-page/in-memoriam-donation, or Beyond Type 1, https://donate.beyondtype1.org/checkout/donation?eid=80413.
