On Octoberr 31,1952, Welch High School’s football team, defeated the Pineville Minutemen by a score of 25-14. “Dashing” Don Boyd, West Virginia’s leading, scorer, ran three touchdowns for the Maroon Wave and increased his total to 21 for the season. This win ensured the Maroon Wave of a winning season, the first in 10 years, for Welch High School.
