Update from Nancy Dawson:
Mark your calendars for the Blakeley Field Homecoming, scheduled for Saturday, October 6th at Anderson Memorial Presbyterian Church, on Stewart Street. We will meet from 10 o'clock a.m. until 6 o'clock p.m.
Don't let the name fool you, we are not limiting this social to only former residence of Blakely Field. If you ever lived in the neighborhood; knew anyone who lived in the neighborhood; visited anyone who lived in the neighborhood; or if you ever drove through the neighborhood... you too, are included in the invitation! And EVERYONE has driven through the neighborhood, going to the Sterling Drive-In. So that includes all of you guys and gals from Gary, Vivian, Northfork, Kimball, Big Creek, and any other school I may have left out.
We keep this very simple, each family will bring a cooler with enough soft drinks to take care of their family for the day, and if you like you can bring any fingerfoods you might want to share with the group. We will provide paper plates, napkins, paper cups and plastic silverware. We will spend the entire day talking and laughing and eating and talking and laughing and eating…
The Church has always offered their building for the event without ever asking for a fee. We realize there will be added expenses for air conditioning, lights, and water and well as for cleanup. So we will provide an opportunity if you want to make a donation to help cover this extra cost and to provide a love offering to show our appreciation to the church and staff.
Share this information with everyone you know who might want to join us for this fun day of reminiscing and getting reacquainted with our youth. We look forward to seeing all of you there.
