Today, Don Boyd, WHC Class of 1953, visited the campus of the University of Chattanooga, Tennessee. Sixty-five years ago, on November 7, 1953 on this campus, Don played in a football game with the University of Louisville, Kentucky Cardinals against the University of Chattanooga, Tennessee Moccasins. Louisville defeated Chattanooga by a score of 47-13. "Dashing Don" scored three touchdowns in the game, including a touchdown run of 14 yards, and two touchdown pass receptions of 34 and 27 yards. Both touchdown passes were throw by the great NFL Hall of Fame Quarterback John Unitas.
Don graduated from the University of Louisville in 1957. He was drafted to play football for the Cleveland Browns, but a severe back injury ended his career.
