The State of Louisiana & the 78th (309th)

Hello All,

I hope somebody can answer this question that has been rolling around for some time. My Dad served with the 78th, 309th. He died in 1974 but he spoke about Louisiana and seeing Cotton Mouth Moccasin snakes and Mardi Gras. The timeframe would be from 1943 to Feb. 1945.

My question would be, did the 78th or 309th ever visit Louisiana or be on leave there? Possibly injured soldiers returning from England? Any response would be greatly appreciated. I know about the Tennessee maneuvers and the Transit strike but Louisiana?

Thank you for your responses. God bless our troops, past present and future forces. God bless the USA!
