Hello,

Can anybody advise if their is a US version of the complete Columbo series available? There seems to be conflicting information on this. I have most all episodes on tape, but would like them all on DVD for USA use. If their is can you provide a reputable seller?

Short answer: No.

In the US, you can buy a series of box sets that, all together, extend through "It's All In the Game" (1993), which leaves another 10 episodes still unavailable on DVD in the US.

Countries where Universal offers true "all episode" DVD sets include the UK, France and Japan. It is easy to buy such sets from the Amazon site [for that country], and it's both easy and inexpensive to buy a DVD player that will play these foreign discs in the US. It is also possible to view them (or even capture clips) on your computer, using free software, on any DVD drive.

Any internet offer for an "all episode" set for the US is, by definition, bootleg. Might be good quality, might be iffy, might be a total ripoff (where you never receive any discs at all). These sites' name and URLs change often so, sorry, I cannot recommend any of them, although maybe you could try one and get lucky.


If you are interested in buying the UK complete set, and a multi-region DVD player to show them in the US (which I recommend as cost-effective, especially for anyone who doesn't already own the full collection of USA box sets, or even for someone who owns all of the current US releases), let me know and I will re-post previous messages about this.

I agree. You take a big chance on bootleg material, but you always lose dealing with off shore retailers. Just to drive the point home, send an email inquiry to one and see if you even get a reply, let alone a lucid answer.

You're far better off waiting on the official release of a title anyway -- or doing without entirely. In this case, you'd think any true fan (even the psychotic ones) would be essentially satisfied by what IS available.
