Just wondered, as I read through yet another fumbling attempt at naming Jack the Ripper, not just whether Columbo would have solved the mystery (I think he would have) but also how he would have gone about it?
His theory of looking specifically at someone who "behaved out of context with how they would normally behave" is as good a starting point as any.
Also, his eye for detail would have been invaluable in the human maelstrom that was Whitechapel 1888!
he would have looked queen victoria in the eye and said "mam,i'm sorry mam,but your nephew did it but i can't bring him to trial because you've got him sectioned,so in a way he's got away with it mam so i'll bid you farewell"
