Whilst watching Troubled Waters recently it struck me how Robert Vaughn (Hayden Danziger) didn't really come across as a murderer with a real sense of purpose. I mean, okay he was having an affair, and decided the only way out was to murder the poor woman, but his character seemed all too bland and almost incapable of committing such an aweful act. On the other hand there were other characters in other films in which I have no doubt at all they were perfectly capable of murder - some examples being Robert Culp in Death Lends a Hand, or Leanard Nimoy in A Stitch in Crime. I'm talking about the character of the man in question, does anyone else think the same I wonder?
In "Death Lands a Hand," Robert Culp was not planning the murder. As he said when he was caught, it was an accident. To me, Dick Van Dyke, was a ruthless murderer. The way he killed his wife and then the man that helped him. I found that show very good.
I also feel that Mrs. Lyton ("Old Fashion Murder") was a "cold" bloodied murder. She seemed to have no affect after killing Mr. Schafer and her brother. There were some murderers that felt guilty - Johnny Cash ("Swan Song"), and Mr. Carsini ("Any Old Port in the Storm"). I don't know if you noticed but Robert Culp seemed to cry when he was caught in his three shows.
