It tastes like...?

When Riley Greenleaf is fixing up his alibi in the bar in In Publish or Perish the bartender serves him a drink to which Greenleaf says in disgust 'it tastes like...' To me it sounds like he says 'it tastes like barsse'. But what does that mean? I've wondered about this for a while. Anyway it was on TV the other week and I thought ah I'll put the subtitles on and solve it. But when it came to that bit it the subtitles said 'It tastes awful. Now Riley may have thought it tasted 'awful' but that's not the word he used! What did he really say?

Re: It tastes like...?

He said it tastes like barf, but he was purposefully slurring his speech for his alibi so it came out barsse.

Re: It tastes like...?

Ah right so that's what he says. Thanks for that!
