I had to watch that episode many times, when I finally figured out how Columbo caught Dr. Mayfield. After surgery, the entire operating room was being searched, Dr. Mayfield pushed Columbo and put the suture in his pocket. I enjoyed that episode. Leonard Nimoy did a good job playing a murderer.
Speaking of which, grabbing some suture and rubbing dye on it, unless you are taking extraordinary precautions, is going to cause a raging infection that will kill the patient who gets this stuff near his heart, even before the suture dissolves. At least, that's what I was told by the doctor that I'm married to.:relaxed:
Please can somebody tell me why Dr. Mayfield killed Harry Alexander?
Thanks.
He killed Harry Alexander with drugs because he was trying to make it look like a drug addict had killed Sharon Martin. That's also why he planted the morphine in her apartment and ransacked it.
The Harry Alexander thing has been a bone of contention in this forum many times. The question comes up as to if Alexander actually died or was just drugged? We don't know the answer

They never did say, did they? Columbo didn't mention his name when he slammed the pitcher down on Mayfield's desk and listed out his victims.
