Vague question about background music; but i'm sure someone will know.

In multiple episodes (4 or even more?) there is the same background song, aka elevator music that is playing. It sounds like a familiar song that we all have probably heard but i can't put my finger on it. Does anyone know the music i'm talking about?

Just thought i'd ask before i research it more cause i'm lazy. But it just got in my head and is rolling around like a marble...LOL.

Thanks

In The Greenhouse Jungle, there is some theme music that I believe is used in other episodes. I think it’s playing when Jarvis and Tony are at the top of the hill and Sgt. Wilson is photographing them. Is that the tune you’re thinking of? If not, can you name one episode where you here it?

I’m watching Double Shock and the music that I think you’re asking about is playing during the scene where the uncle is murdered.

The song i'm talking about is playing at the restaurant when Dudek and Clayton are playing chess.

In the episode, "The Most Crucial Game," Columbo goes to Eric Wagner's house while they are setting up the flowers. Paul Hanlon and Walter Cunnell are there. In the background the concert music that Alex Benedict was conducting in "Etude in Black," is playing. That is when Columbo figures out the house was bugged by the static in the radio. Just another example of background music that is repeated in several episodes.

Interesting, i'll have to check that out. I knew there were a couple more instances than the song i'm referring to. Maybe Universal or any studio was able to get the rights to certain songs inexpensively.
