Ahhh I was watching this episode yesterday and I was thinking the same thing...hmmm?

I've always thought it was. It's the best way to make it look natural in the film, and as far as I know it's something that doesn't hurt even if you don't need it, as long as it's an expert who does it. I have it done it almsot every year (it releases tension in your back), and it doesn't hurt or anything.
