The Letters (1973)...

Found myself watching this on Saturday night as the rain lashed down, some of our favourite Columbo actors appeared in it, Ida Lupino, Leslie Nielson and Lesley Ann Down. Although its a low budget movie with three seperate story lines, all woven together by a plane crash, the quality and standard of acting is very good, Ida in particular gives a solid, believable role and her final scene, with daughter and grandaughter is most touching. Never thought I'd feel sorry for a man heading up to the bedroom with an attractive woman, yet Leslie Nielson is a most pitiful character and I envy him not! Lesley Ann puts in a typical tortured role with a cruel twist. The Postman has the final word too... the letter will always be delivered... a metaphor apparently for the truth! If you ever get a wee bit bored watching endless Columbo films, try The Letters...
