I have noticed two lines from Columbo used numerous times. Of course, always fitting the situation and aura.
“It must be a terrible shock”
Then after a bit of sizing up the scene, usually with what turns out to be the guilty party, the subject would say, “well if there’s anything else I can do for you”……
Which is followed by the second line, “maybe some other time”.
