I never got an answer for one of questions about this episode:
Columbo asks Mrs Halperin "The Caldwell house, is it next block?"
She says "yes, right accross the street", then Columbo says "yes I know, I was there this morning, I was trying to visualise the proximity"
I don't understand that at all. What what this question about? what was his target?
I think Columbo was trying to form a mental picture of how far away the Caldwell house was from the Halperin house to get a better picture of just how clearly a burglar running from the Caldwell house would be as viewed the balcony where Mark Halperin said that he saw someone running from the Caldwell house.
