The Greenhouse Jungle comments

1. One of the latest murders in the series (for now the only one that happened later which I can think of now is Columb Cries A Wolf, if we count the newer seasons, and I don't know how should we treat „Most Dangerous Match” in this case. The time of first attempt? Or second? Anyway I will watch it soon so I will compare those two, I remember also Swan Song had a long „preparations”). The murder here happens at 35 minute, so exactly in the half of the episode
2. When Tony calls from the phone booth, he bigins with joyful „It's about time!” (which is always funny to me). Then he says.... aa OK OK, and continues to talk as if kidnapper is talking to someone. Why did he do that? He knew Jarvis is on the other side. In case of conversation being recorded? Was it even possible back then? But even if so, then his „It's about time” in the beggining gave him away anyway, so what's the point of pretending in the rest of converstion? I don't get it
3. Always kind of ridiculous for me: this „discreet tracking” of Jarvis by Columbo and Willson was completely not discreet at all! They were driving after him with a very short distance, and stopped at the place that they had everything on plain sight. If the real kidnapping were taking place – they would be spotted right away in my opinion
4. I'm curious what is this house where Tony was killed. Whose property was that? I think none of them. So how did they found it and enter it?
5. I was not wondering about that before (strange), but now I started: who was Tony actually? What did he do for living? It looks like he only lived because of this trust fund so has been controlled by uncle Jarvis. But it is said that Miss Gloria West was his receptionist – so that means that he had to do something. So what was he doing for living?
6. I don't like one Columbo's action: when he says to Mrs Goodland that „somebody told him that she has a lover with a deep suntan”. I can easily accept the fact that he says that, probably a good move, but why did he say that exactly Gloria West told him that? It was really not fair to Gloria
7. Sgt Willson seems to be really nice and friendly guy, but when Columbo lets him be in charge for a while, then he changes instantly for more harsh and unpleasant. So I am not really sure what kind of guy he really is
8. In the final scene, when Columbo is waiting for ballistic report, Sgt Grover comes with it. But he comes from inside a house. And Sgt Williams and Cathy Goodland too. How did they enter Jarvis house??

Re: The Greenhouse Jungle comments

I've almost never heard someone say that about Wilson, that as likable as he is, he lets things go to his head toward the end of the story. But I always notice that too.
