Headache, you are making me blush again!! Stop that...
But WOW!!! What a TERRIFIC topic...I really hope it gets bunches and bunches of responses!! This could be so much fun!!
For me...this was fairly easy...I think I most resemble....Alex Benedict... ...ok..only joking, of course...but it was fairly easy...I would have to go for Jenifer Welles in Etude in Black...only my hair is a little shorter..just past my shoulders. That is one of the reasons I enjoy the episode so much because I can envision JC kissing me!! (I know...I know...I'm nuts!!) I really don't want to get hit over the head with an ashtray and then gassed to death!!...but a kiss wouldn't be bad.
And Jim Ferris....not too shabby at all, if I may say so, cutie!!....but I thought you had a beard. Weren't you the one who went to the Columbo convention and took pictures of some of the past stars from Columbo and you were wearing that wild shirt and you had a beard? Am I confusing you with Mrs. Peck again? (not the mean old woman, but the man!)
(i'm whispering here, so that is why i am not using capitals...no one else can hear me except you headache.....can i steal your idea and post it on colsy's site...or would rather do it yourself...let me know..)
OU LA LA right back attcha...but as you said, that is what I think..other people may have a different opinion. For one, my 17 year old son...who, when I told him about this, laughed and said to me "You look more like Peter Falk than Jenifer Welles!!!" That's why I love my boy!!
And it twern't you? All this time I had this image in my head of you as the guy in those photos...a nice looking big guy with a salt and pepper colored beard....but Martin Milner is nothing to sneeze at! Pretty Handsome! Maybe it was Mrs. Peck then...it was a while back...and I am confused.
Oh..and thanks for letting me steal your idea, and letting me post it on the colsy site. All 4 of us who post on there will have a ball with it!!
(just as a sidelight..i have been having so much trouble with my computer today and having such difficulty getting a connection. )
Great question Headache. I think I will have to think about this one...in 69 episodes of Columbo there must be someone who looks like me...but I can't think of anyone off the top of my head, will have to get back to you.
Now I feel bad about all those times I said I really didn't like Jennifer Welles, how annoying she was. Well Cassa, I was of course just refering to how she was treating Alex, not how she looks
I would have to say that I'm an unfortunate amalgamation of Artie Jessup (Val Avery) in "A Friend in Deed" and Vito Scotti as the derelict Thomas Dolan in "Negative Reaction".
Don't feel bad, Paul. It's a-ok! We are going for look-a-likes here..not personalities.
And I cannot wait to hear what character you picked as looking like you....I have my idea..but I will keep it only in my mind until you reveal your answer.
And ChickFuzz...don't be such a downer on yourself! Yes, Artie Jessup and Thomas Dolan had their faults...but they were lovable..in their own way...especially Dolan....aahhh..my Vito!!
It's not easy, they're almost all much older than I am ... but I'd say that I resemble Harlod van Wyck (Oskar Werner) in Playback, just 20/25 years younger.
Moreover I think I read that he's austrian and my granfather was austrian, too, so we have more than mere appearance in common! :-)
Character resemblance can be thought of in multiple ways. If you want to go by the "name game," I have no other choice than to pick the killer's brother-in-law from "Uneasy Lies the Crown." His name was
David Sherwin. Mine is David Sherman.
As for personality resemblance, it is a tough one. Perhaps Paul Williams from "Ransom For a Dead Man," though a bit younger and less educated (I'm only an accountant, not a lawyer.)
I'd say actually Columbo himself. Although I wouldn't say I could so brilliantly figure out things like him and I can be absent minded at times like him and can look disheveled and have lots of loose stuff in my pockets and often have to write things down.
Ok...this thread is too good to let go into the wastelands. It has been wonderful to hear who people look like. Come on kiddies..where are all you other peoples......Laura..Jilted Barfly..TFL..YM..colsy..David..
Victoria..E..who am I leaving out??....mr. one-liner, robbie...Anthony...Mrs. Peck???...
I know I left out a lot of people. Well, this was a goodie that Headache started...and I would love to see more responses...it is really a fun one...
ok...before this thread goes into the abyss...I just wanted to revive it once more because I really thought it was terrific. I wished it had more replies...but what are you going to do?
You dun good, yet again, Headache. It was really fun to hear who people thought they looked like......it is always nice to put a face to a name.
And in that light....cassa is going out on a limb here (and being a bit bold!)..and just mentioning that I have posted my picture on colsy's site www.columbo.us.tt
It is in the "Photo" section on the main page and if you click on that you will see a list of sub categories, and my photo post is obviously the one that reads "cassa".
Now, the reason I mention this is because I would hope that this will start a trend...and maybe a few other of you Columboites would share your pics....It would really be nice to see what some of you guys and gals look like.
Holy Old Thread Batman!!! Fred, I guess you revived this one..........I thought this was the greatest..I had only wished that more people had responded.
And dear heavens!!! Look how many times I posted!! What a freak!!
This answer's a bit offbeat, but I think pretty accurate.
If you ever get to see the UNCUT version of "Caution: Murder Can Be Hazardous To Your Health" (with George Hamilton as the crime-solving TV show host), there's a scene where Columbo visits a porno store. He's looking for a tape of the porno movie that (as Columbo has learned) starred George Hamilton's character -- which was the basis for the blackmail that motivated the murder. This scene is frequently censored, as is the lead-up that features a couple of hookers on the street, lewdly asking Columbo "What's under the raincoat?"
Anyway, as a bit of fun in that scene, a guy sidles up to Columbo in the porn store, wearing the EXACT SAME raincoat and suit -- he must have been Peter Falk's "double". Eyeing Columbo's raincoat, he says, "Hope we both have fun tonight, pal!", then he winks and sleazes away.
Well, I cannot deny that I look quite a bit like that guy. At least, I did at that time.
You can see a picture of that character in the Scrapbook article "Columbo's Raincoat," and a couple of pictures of me in the Scrapbook article "Our Day at The View". But you'd have to see pictures of us at a similar distance, to appreciate how much he resembles me.
Yes Ted, as I had pointed out in the past, you definitely resemble that guy!! It is so funny!!
But in my eyes you shall always be the Grand Maestro...and that guy is the best!!
For some reason my wife thinks that Richard Kiley in "A Friend Indeed" reminds her of me. Something about the mannerisms (or maybe she's just calling me an arrogant schuck).
I never answered this question because I can't think of any Columbo character who I resemble. However, my students at school tell me that I look like Drew Carey. Actually, I don't really see a resemblance (other than that we are both fat guys with buzz cuts). But it is something that comes up with every group of kids that I have had, so maybe I'm just in denial.
So...can anybody think of a Columbo character who fits the requirements?
i'm bumping this puppy up for anybody who wants to add to it.
(DISCLAIMER: as annoying as i am now on this forum, i was even more annoying back in 2005-2006. if you must read my posts, please try not to become sick to your stomach. )
