It's Frank, yes. Here're two pictures from Columbo episodes, where You can read clearly, that his first name IS Frank:

A large majority of people who post here, including myself, would prefer to not know what his real name is. It keeps the mystery alive. And as it has been said here 598 times..not too many people think that his name is actually Frank. Even Peter Falk himself has said many times that Columbo's first name is Lieutenant.
....or as Headache would say...Lou Tenant Columbo.

The "Frank" thing is totally unofficial. It is merely from a PROP. If you insist that Frank is Columbo's first name, then we must also assume that Peter Falk's picture is on Elliot Markham's driver's license in "Blueprint For Murder," which makes no sense. Props are meant to be props.
