Those outside the Carolinas may not know there's always been competition between the two states (I've wondered it that's the same with the Dakotas and the Virginias). I'm a Carolina fan (UNC), but a friend claims to be the "true" Carolina fan (USC). Didn't mean to confuse anyone.
Michael, for that matter, even within North Carolina (as you know), the rivalry is just as strong between UNC and Duke. At certain times of year, a fella could git beat up just for wearin' the wrong shade of blue.
Well, I'm kidding -- that's just my way of saying hey, and letting you know that I live in Durham (and the wife works for Duke). Funny how the site draws people from so far away, and also so close by.
I used to live in Chapel Hill (Ephesus Church Road) . . . took a couple of writing classes at Duke. Yeah, the rivalry between the two universities is fierce.
Hey Cass, the other post perked my interest in this one, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention how you Northern Joisey people look down and act snobbish toward us Southern Joisey folk! There is a grass roots movement for us to be our own state so we don't have to be associated with youse people and your controlling ways
Mrs. Peck you are a nut!!!
Now technically I do not live in northern Joisey....well originally I did...but where I live now is Central Joisey and right at this moment I am at our summer house which is really sort of southern Joisey.....and Ted it has a 609 area code!
And just to keep this Columbo related... I am watching Caution: Murder Can Be Hazardous To Your Health right at this moment.
Sorry to be the one to break this to you, but there really isn't a central Joisey! Theres only a Northern or Souther! The dividing line is somewhere around Trenton and Interstate 195. The only acceptable sub division is the Jersey Shore, which runs the entire coast line from Cape May to the nude beach at Sandy Hook.

Now you are confusing the heck out of me! Since I live down the shore....what is that? Northern??? On the news programs they always call it Central Jersey........Help me!!!!
And there you go again with Sandy Hook and the infamous nudie beach!!
Down the shore? That is the biggest misnomer Jerseyites have. When you go east or west you are going "over", when you go North you are going "up" and when you go South you are going "down".
The news programs are just looking for some idenitity. They are slave to North and South Jersey.
I still haven't gotten to Sandy Hook, its just too darn hot!
I never thought of it that way....we always say "down the shore" .....but you are right...it is "going over to"....oh dear!!! We go to Sandy Hook a lot, to have our Benny the Beagle run.....but we haven't hit Gunnison's Beach.
And again...I will say something about Columbo...we just watched Lovely But Lethal...and I noticed the cigarette pack is the same as in Caution: Murder Can Be Hazardous To Your Health.....the brand name is different...It is Victory in Caution...and Valiant in Lovely...but the logo on the pack is the same.
I think you are acting more like Peck's Bad Boy rather than Mrs. Peck!! Teddy the Terminator?!?!?!? And you like to "hang out" there?!?!? You are a nut!
I would like to take my wife to Sandy Hook to air out our differences

Oh Goodness gracious Mrs. Peck....what am I ever going to do with you?!!??! You are such a silly!!.....and it is great!!! Thanks!!
I don't think the Mason Dixon Line applies to me......so tell me Sir, what part of Jersey do I actually live in???? You have confused the heck out of me!!!
Oh....we watched Any Old Port In A Storm dvd today...it was so hot here..we couldn't go outside to do our crabbing....only caught one today.....but the episode was wonderful once again...we really enjoyed it...
You my good woman are in Northern New Jersey, home of the smelly oil refinieries on the New Jersey Turnpike. Unofficially anything north of Exit 8 of the Turnpike is Northern New Jersey.
Speaking of crabs, sometimes I wake up crabby in the morning, but most of the time I let her sleep

Ok Peck.....I am 105 off the Garden State Parkway...and where I am now, our summer place on the lagoon, is 63 off the Parkway......come on...I am sorta southern NJ...aren't I??
We used to live near the Turnpike when we first got married...it was horrible...it was the yuck-hole of New Jersey...and that is what most people think NJ is all about...all those chemical plants on the Turnpike.............but you and I know it is so much more than that.......and Ted knows too.....
And I know you don't mean to say that stufff about your honey being a crabby......she is probably a wonderful woman!!!......she is hooked up with you!!
I caught the biggest crab this week so far.....6 inches point to point!!!...I am so proud of myself!!! I know 6 inches doesn't sound too big but it is!!!! The minimum is 4 1/2....so I found the big guy!!!! I love it!!!
105...not even close to South Jersey, 63 is borderline, but close enough to be considered South Jersey. A quick rule of thumb for the Jersey Shore is "where are most of the vistors from?" New York? Then you are North Jersey! Philly? Then you are in South Jersey! Works for all shore points except AC, they are in a world of their own....

Ok then I think I am in!! Most of the "other" people are from Philly..even our next door neighbor here is from Philly......and the topper of it all is the fact that we don't have a lawn....it is all those pebbles....that is low-down southern shore!!
I have been learning a lot of UK lingo here and on colsy's site....it is quite a wonderful experience....a lot of fun. I think they speak a whole other language over there...and I love it!!
Thanks Darth/Welshdragon/He-Man/Sloth...and Paul and colsy....my UKers...and I aint leaving any letters out Welsh! You are just UKERS!
