Well, you have to put the "talking heads" somewhere, that is, the plot exposition. Really, this episode is not that bad, we see motive, method, alibi. And Vito Scotti to boot! Coulda been shorter, but all the ABC's coulda been shorter. They needed to stress that the portrait of the bar could not be brought in through the window of the unused apartment. Otherwise, why bother hiding it under a piece of canvas? And, what can I say, Dog is in this one. I thought that we would find that Vito's character had moved something in the bar after Barsini agreed to paint the portrait, and that detail would be wrong in his alibi painting. Like, say, the other Barsini painting that graced the pub. Vito moves it so it will be in Barsini's new painting, visible from his vantage point in the apartment. "How could it not be there sir? Because you painted the bar earlier at home from rough sketches you made the day you visited the bar to set up your time concealment alibi".
LOL...the one thing i kept watching on the episode was falk's wife!!!! they really have a few years in between them..i kept watching falk looking at his wife
Actually, I've always enjoyed this one, it is one of the best of the new series.
The description of the dreams wasn't that bad either and, as you said, there's plenty to be appreciated in this episode: characters (villain esp.), motive, alibi, method, music, atmosphere ...

Interesting to hear that quite a few of you like this episode. For me this episode epitomises everything that went wrong with the ABC episodes. Too long, ridiculous plot, Falk doing a pastiche of the character he created, I get very upset just thinking about it.
