I really enjoy this actor/director. I think my two fsvorite episodes with him are Identity Crisis (Steinmetz is classic) and By Dawn's Early Light. Honorable mention to him as Oscsr Finch as well.

i love his character in both dawn's early light and identity crisis.....he is the bomb!!
one of my favourite scenes of all-time columbo episodes is when he and columbo meet at his house and share madame butterfly and wine together...it is so wonderfully rich!!
and the gas station scene in this same episode is hysterically funny!

Fred, I couldn't agree with you more. McGoohan does an outstanding job in portraying all 3 characters you mentioned. But his portrayal of both Nelson Brenner and Steinmetz together was great.
