Columbo Would be Puzzled if.....

In "Make Me a Perfect Murder," the movie that Kay Freestone shows is called "The Professional." The nguy in that film shoots himself in the head. But when we look at the professional just before he shoots himself, he is at the sink, washing up. I can hear Columbo now: "Why would a man who is about to commit suicide wash up first?"

Re: Columbo Would be Puzzled if.....

interesting fred. In another episode when a woman commits suicide, columbo states that he absolutely hates suicide. But away from that, I think I brought this episode up before as one of my favorites. But even I could think of a better hiding place for a gun rather than the top of an elevator.

But that brings up another question: What made Columbo think the gun was still in the building in the first place? That's what puzzles me. What do you think fellow columbo-ites?

Re: Columbo Would be Puzzled if.....

Good point about Columbo assuming the gun was still in the building. I always wondered the same thing about "Double Exposure."

Re: Re: Columbo Would be Puzzled if.....

Columbo assumes the gun is still in the building because Kay Freestone is his suspect, and she did not have time to dispose of it during her well calculated yet risky plan.

Re: Columbo Would be Puzzled if.....

She might not have had time to dispose of it at the time she was carrying out her plan, but she could have retrieved it and disposed of it the next day.

Re: Columbo Would be Puzzled if.....

...hmmm....shades of Dr. Kepple in Double Exposure not getting rid of the calibration converter..

Re: Columbo Would be Puzzled if.....

...one of my favorite episodes too.

I just thought of a 'double' meaning for the title; In the end Columbo not only exposes the murderer, he exposes the giggling, mischievious child behind the intelligent, analytical Dr. Kepple. Double exposure indeed!
