There is a “Fremont”, California, and a search of Internet Websites brings up different colleges or universities in that area.

But notice that in the Columbo episode, it is spelled with 2 “E”s. FREEMONT.

I could not find a real school or college with that spelling.

Perhaps they filmed at some college location in that area and just made up that name.
