Funniest Columbo episode

On another thread Fred mentioned the humorous side of Columbo and he referenced the scene in "Negative Reaction" where Columbo is turned away from the junkyard by the patrolman who though he was junking the Peugot. It got me thinking about that episode. Considering the junkyard scene, the scene in the soup kitchen where Columbo is mistaken for a hobo and the scene with the driving instructor, I would have to rate this as one of the funniest Columbo episodes ever. I can think of other scenes that have made me laugh, (stumbling down the hillside in "The Greenhouse Jungle"), but not that many scenes in one episode.

Re: Funniest Columbo episode

For me funniest is Sex and the married detective, although murder and murderer aren't good in my opinion. But there are many funny scenes -

1)Columbo playing on tube & water going up and down

2)Columbo looking for a sticker in trash and running from room to room while cleaning lady is looking at him

3)Columbo crawling under sink in ladies room and moving his whole body from one end to another and then a whole row of ladies waiting outside that couldn't enter because of Lt

4)Columbo returns 4 TIMES to Joan Allenby's house in a single evening

Re: Re: Funniest Columbo episode

Vento makes some true obsevations...but...for me the funniest running sequence in Sex and the Married Detective is the turn around play where the various sex therapists ask the lieutenant for his advice and with little aplomb he assumes their professional persona.

Re: Re: Re: Funniest Columbo episode

Yes, ABE LASKO, I forgot about that, it's also very funny, it's like a scene from some comedy.

Columbo looks like a therapist in that case.

Re: Funniest Columbo episode

Of course, it wasn't intended to be, but "A Case of Immunity" tickles me throughout.

"How most astute Alafa..." HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Re: Re: Funniest Columbo episode

I have to agree, "Negative Reaction"
was the best. Don't forget about the
scene where he asks Galesko for
a pin-up for his dog, and the horrible
photos taken at the funeral.

Re: Re: Re: Funniest Columbo episode

I've mentioned this before (a couple of times I think)- THE funniest scene ever is not performed by Columbo himself, but a murderer. In "Columbo Goes to College" one of the killers does a dead-on impersonation of Columbo ("You know what I gotta do - I gotta go see the coach's wife!!") ANY Columbo fan will smile ear-to-ear no matter how many times you've seen it.
