OK, Watch Closely..'cause I'm only gonna do this once....

Well after Fielding's post yesterday about Now You See Him...I had to watch it again last night.

THE GREATEST TRICK in that episode was not by Santini.

It was the REPETITIVE DISAPPEARING WALL TRICK.

Anyone ever notice when Columbo goes into Mike Lally's rented room.....The camera shots of Mike (face on) show him with his head against the bed's open-spaced head board of the bed frame.

Clearly his head shadow (on the obvious wall behind him) is maybe only an inch away.

When the camera takes on Columbo (face on)..there is no wall.

This repeats back and forth a few times.

We certainly see (in many films) face to face dialogues and must assume the filming technique of moving the camera or using two cameras, one from each respective side.

We also see many TV shows where a person goes through a door from one room into another, and our "side" view shows the intervening wall between rooms but evidently no wall at the perimeter from where we are viewing.

But I've never seen a disappearing wall.
KUDOS on that trick.

Nothing in life is what it appears to be.
(But at least we solved the Kenosha mystery).

An hour ago I had to go look at that.
Odd but I never noticed it before.
