Sorry to intrude here, but today I learned for the first time that I am a 100% DNA Match with someone in England with your FRENCH surname and this baffles me since my CROWs have been in America since 1600s. If anyone has a link or interest in pursuing this please don't hesitate to contact me. Thank you, Mitchell Crow, U.S.
I am glad that you contacted us. Did you match with the 12/12 or 25/25 test?
The reason I ask is that from what I understand many people with different surnames may match on the 12/12, but may not match on the more specific 25/25. If it is a 25/25 match then that means there is a 90% possibility that you both have a Common Ancestor that lived ~19.8 Generations or ~396 years ago which would be about 1600 A.D.
I would definitely do the 25 marker upgrade test. It will definitely give you a more refined result. We had some discussion on our French List at rootsweb and we all determined that for us only the 25 marker test would be genealogically useful for our purposes.
Please let us know what your results are.
Best Regards,
David

Hello David,
I matched with the 12/12 - and at this point I'm about ready to splurge and do the 25 What do you think?
Okay, I will do so and follow up with your "French" person I am now speaking with on this interesting development, as well!
Mitch
