This kid is unbelievable. Did not get into baseball until very late and then it was in Mexico. Nats found him. Last year at age 25, he pitched 59 innings at 3 levels ending in AAA and gave up 2 runs both with 2 outs. He was 2 outs away from a perfect season. Looking like maybe he makes the Show in the bullpen. Great story.
The kid finally got to the Show yesterday against the Red Sox. At age 30 he is the oldest player to make his MLB debut since 1947. I guess you could say he held his own. Betts flew out on 2 strikes, Pedroia singled on 2 strikes, then he K'ed 5 in a row ... Hanley, Craig, Napoli, Victorino and Xander. Not a bad debut. What a story!
PS: I was wrong in original post that he was 25 last year.
