I totally agree with the author that I'd rather have Santana for 3 years at $60 million than Hosmer for the big bucks, long years that it will take to sign him.
Yes I question guys that breakthrough in their walk year. Regardless of if it was drugs or just hitting the gym more you have to be concerned about what happens after the big contract is signed.
Well Cleveland recovers nicely signing Alonzo, who had a higher OPS in 2017, for half the annual cost and a year shorter contract. Alonzo is also a year younger.
Santana has stronger history of good results but twice the price is a big difference.
