What are the thoughts on drafting the 9th and 10th round as a slow draft the 2 days before the main draft.
Reason: This would allow for those keeping 9 and 10 and more level ground to start the main draft on. 2.) It would shorten our main draft night by some time.
Hi Ron,
Everything is already setup for our draft for the night of March 17th. It's much easier getting everyone together for one sitting rather than adding another night. We used to have a separate supplemental draft but switched it to a single night some years back.
There will be a different look at the beginning as all the Extra Keepers will be added after the Regular Keepers. This will prevent owners from accidentally drafting an Extra Keeper. Those that have less than 5 Extra keepers will have a slot filler to fill the vacancy.
Those keeping 8 will begin the draft round 14, 9 keepers will start round 15, 10 keepers begins round 16. In all there will be 31 rounds with 13 to 15 already filled in before we begin on March 17th at 7:00 PM ET.
Everyone will be getting more info by e-mail as we get closer to all the important dates.
Hey Jimi. Will those with less than five extra keepers get a chance to fill out their extra keepers either before or after rest of draft or have to wait for waiver wire to open?
Barry, you can select MiLB players anytime during the draft, but there won't be any "extra picks" to fill your MiLB slots.
When the waiver wire opens on March 19th (first waiver results to come out late that night or very early in the morning of the 20th) you'll be able to put in claims for MLB and MiLB players.
Also remember that the DL and MiLB slots have been increased from 5 to 7 apiece for the 2018 season.
We've already received 7 yes votes for having the supplemental draft for those keeping less than 10 players.
The OGBL Constitution has be updated to show this, so check it out if you're inclined to.
