Sir Gawain and the Green Knight

I just finished reading Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, I took noticed of a common thread between Gawain and the tarot card of the Hanged Man. I also was struck by the symbolism of the design on Gawain's sheild. The five pointed star. If you have not read it yet, I suggest you do. Since reading, I have dreamt of the Green Knight and the Hanged Man. Could anyone suggest why??
