Does anyone know how pagans deal with demonic possession? How would they do an "exorcism"?

now that's a interesting question, one EVEN me (little joke there) don't have an answer for. But I wonder, would not the Christain form work as well for pagans? I hope your in no danger Alex

I'm not, a friend of mine seems to be possessed by demons. She has been open to Chrisians but they push their beliefs on her. There are very different views on demons. She'd just prefer the pagan way, if at all possible.

well to begin with, the demonization of the spirit world is not a pagan concept, it's patriarchal.
i don't know any pagans who even believe in "demonic possession"
"true evil only exists in the hearts of man who has turned his back to the light"

so, if you want advice on clearing unclear or negative energy, i can help there, but i simply don't believe in "evil" spirits outside the earth plane.

I'm pagan and I believe in demonic possession and evil spirits. I believe in it a different way than christians. But I know what she has influencing her is not a human spirit and it is very evil. The alternative would be going to a hindu priest to help her, they do exorcism through Kali Ma. But I suppose since most pagans do not believe in demonic possession or demons I'll have to have her go to a hindu priest. But thank you for your kind offer to help clear negative energy.

One more thing I wanted to add. In the old days when the Celtic Pagans celebrated Samhain they would paint their faces while out celebrating to prevent the evil spirits from knowing who they were and following them home. Not trying to start and argument, I just wanted to say it. :D

I just wanted to chirp in with my two cents here since this topic got me thinking a lot last night...
I agree that the dualism of good/evil is a human construct. It doesn't exist (as we know it) in the spirit realm. However we do create our realities so....(you take it from there!)

The other thing is that I had someone tell me once that the closest thing in our culture to the Hindu demons is the idea of sin...which made a lot of sense to me..

As I said, just what I believe. All I can do is look at what she says she is going through and conclude that whatever is influencing her is evil. She has tried the Christian route and it did not work for her. Since pagans don't have any means for dealing with it, I'll take hindu. I've read about their exorcisms.
I'll do my research and contact someone who can help, hopefully.

i think the most powerful way to dispell something would be to cease believing in it's power. by believing she is possessed by something "evil" you are giving whatever is influencing her an awful lot of power. essentially you are feeding her fear.

I have told her this. I told her to stop focusing on it. Though when she does something will fly across the room. She blacks out and a deep man's voice will come from her mouth. She can't sleep because when she does she has terrible nightmares or something will wake her up. She will tell it to leave, command it to and she will hear a clear "No...". She sees black mists and inhuman faces while laying in bed. She has had a psychological evaluation and was declared mentally sound. She has over 30 witnesses to the activity. One of her neighbors/friends refuses to come over because she was once heading over to her apartment and saw what she described as "One of Those shadows from ghost or white noise", dart across the lawn and into the woods. She'll wake up with bruises and cuts that were not there. Anything religious crosses, the names of gods and goddesses, the sight of holy men) makes her feel as if she is being burned and sick. She is a logical person and has tried to explain it, debunk it, excuse it as being in her head but, she can't help but be scared.

In fact, I met her through someone on this board's post.

The christian approach has not been a success. I've spoken with buddhist monks on the net and they don't believe in it. Pagans, as you've said, don't generally believe in it. So, in the context of it being what it appears to be (early possession), does anyone have any idea how to help her?

I have a friend right now who's been going through this in her house and she's moving because of it. At least in her case the demons seem to have a range and can't go farther than the area around the house. In her case, a teenage boy used to do drugs there and there has been some satanic rituals in the area in prior years. She also, has pictures she showed me of bruises where the spirits picked her up and basically threw her, right in front of her boyfriend. I don't know why, but this seems to be an increasing problem I'm hearing about more and more, and it's making me nervous too. But you can't just ignore it and hope it will go away. You have to deal with it. Maybe she should have a paranormal team come in and try to dispell it. That seems to be a big help with some people. I had to refer another lady to a local team and she's getting help for the same problem. I'll let my local team know and they can refer somebody to where she lives. Please write to me and tell me what state she lives in, and what area, so I can let them know. Maybe it's getting closer to the world changes and the bad spirits are stepping up their attacks and intimidations because they know they're about to get their butts collectively kicked by the Man Upstairs soon, lol. I sure hope it ends soon. Ghosts I can handle...but not demons. That's something no mere human can get rid of. I'm sorry the christian excorcism didn't work...perhaps the one doing it didn't have the holy spirit indwelling them in order for the demons to obey their voice. That's what I've learned you have to have in order for them to go away. Just saying the words won't cut it...you have to be directly connected to the spirit of God by inviting Jesus into your heart...sorry if I offend people who don't believe this. As much as I love some of the pagan/wiccan beliefs, this is one thing I have to stick to my guns about. But let me know where she's located so I can give a shout to my group so they can refer at least a paranormal investigation team taht specialises in this stuff.

She lives in Missouri, not positive what part though. She's already had two teams in there. One was christian based. She is pagan and she wants to get rid of them through her own belief system. As she told the priest that tried to help her, "It wont work unless you believe in it and I don't believe in this."

Well Alex I think you'll like this because my group is led by a Wiccan woman who's also open to other beliefs, that's why we get along, lol. They keep things unbiased and neutral. I posted the link to this thread and I'm sure they'll be letting me know what people she needs to contact, or possibly be asking me for an email address so they can write to her and take it from there.

On a sidenote, I had a weird dream last night where I somehow ended up in this woman's house to try to help myself and was told to be careful because I might be in danger from them as well. The creepiest(and grossest) part of the dream was at one point everybody left the room and I stepped into a pair of big slippers only to find them filled with pee! I wonder if that was one of the spirits sick little tricks or a message that if I try to put somebody else's shoes on my own feet to try to help, I was going to be seeped in the spiritual waste that surrounds that house? At least it only touched my feet, it didn't touch the rest of me. I talked to a woman about what happened in the house but can't remember the details, but I remember she was older, probably in her 40s or 50s with some younger people in the house that could have been her children. I just vaguely remember the living room having white walls with brown carpet, and a lot of old furniture with some clutter. I remember going outside at one point too and it was dark so I couldn't see much, but I felt that at that time, the spirits that were bothering her were holding back or further away from the house but that they could resurface at any minute. Maybe it was just a dream because I was thinking about it, but ya never know.

Alex, I just got a suggestion from my group that your friend contact her nearest metaphysical store...they should be able to put her in contact with an appropriate pagan clergy.

If no one can get rid of it by any of the various methods, then your friend could quite possibly be suffering from schtizophrenia. In my practice I've seen people who may have been possessesed (at least they had ahold of something evil, or something evil had ahold of them!)

More than likely she is suffering from a mental illness. If this has come on very suddenly she needs to see a physician. These symptoms can be brought about by a number of causative factors, the most serious are brain lesions, tumors, aneurysms or any number of life threatening issues with the brain.

Her symptoms are going to get worse unless she gets medication and therapy/training to learn how to control and cope with the symptoms.

I have a hunch it's demon harrassment. I don't know how pagans deal with demons but I'm sure someone sincere in the pagan faiths can help her.

I am a Christian, so what I would reccomend for her is to #1.. gather any love in her heart and project it right back at this demon. She can find love if she reflects on how demons are never at peace because they have turned so far from the Light eons ago that all they know is passionate hate. Anyone in that situation can't really be happy., even if they think they are. So just reflecting on that condition may give your friend some love she can project at this demon. Love hurts, and the demon won't like it, but it is for his/her highest good in the end, wether it likes it or not.

Another thing to do is call on Arch Angel Michael. I know some pagans who call on this Arch Angel for things like this, so you don't have to be of any religion .

I will pray for her to Christ. Nothing is impossible.. Please tell her not to be discouraged.

She's been to both a psychologist and a regular doctor because she thought that was what it was. She was given a clean bill of health. So I'm afraid that is not it.

So...here are some more thoughts on it....
I was talking about this with a friend and she said that she's used salt on possessed things before (i.e. her dog) just have your friend take a bath (and have someone else scrub her) with A LOT of sea salt in it.
Another thing to think about is...what is your friend getting out of all of this? Is it possible that some part of her enjoys all the attention she's getting (and so she will never allow herself to get better)? there are people like that out there...

I have wondered this myself or even that she is faking the whole thing. When she went into a "trance" she started typing all of these "demon" names. I looked them up and several website captions listed all of the demon's names in the EXACT order she sent them to me. They are listed as lyrics to a song as well as on a dark magic website.

Also, she and I were IMing (she was doing it from her phone). She claimed some neighbor woman showed up while she was being overtaken by them (demons). This woman took a picture of her. So I asked to speak with her. She says she handed over the phone to her and I was talking to the neighbor. But when I asked her (the neighbor) to call me, she said she had a doctors appointment. I've spoken to her (my friend) a few times and I know her voice.

Also, like three, four maybe five of the eyewitnesses she says she has she also says has disappeared. This includes the psychic that came to her house and she says, was pushed ten feet. It also includes one of the investigators that she said took with him a picture of a black mist in her home. Then there were two others... (forgive the incorrect term, I'm having a brain fart at the moment) a pastor in training and his wife. She says they've gone missing. So there have been at least four that I can't talk to.

She and I have no REALLY spoken for about two weeks now. Where we were speaking every day for that long at least.

I dunno, when I looked at the pictures she sent me I got NOTHING from the house. But I also got there was something about her; what that is, I don't know.

She honestly, in some ways, sounds like she might have something wrong. She'll talk about thinking she's fat. She'll say she's like 5'5" and when she was 110 thought she was fat. One night she said she felt suicidal, that it was the only way away from these things. Now I know possession can cause slanted views, but that might also be mental.

Kelli, is there anyway I can send you her myspace and you can forward it to the investigators/woman you were speaking about.

I would like second opinions on if she's being honest. Her name is Tess. She's 35 years old and in central Missouri. If you guys pick anything up psychically, I'd appreciate it.

Oh boy, this is the same lady I had get in touch with a local team through my local team months ago!I can't remember if we discussed her on here or not back then. I found out about her on the I Am Haunted site. When you mentioned above that she claims people go missing and that they can't be contacted, it sounds REALLy fishy to me! I can't help but wonder if she's making some if not all of this stuff up for one reason or another! I can't believe that even the most powerful demon can't be sent away with the right help. The inconsistencies in her stories sound VERY suspicious to me. I wonder why she would be making this up to get attention?

Yes, I met her through someone on here. I guess it was you? If there is something to it I don't want abandon her when she has no help. But as I said, a lot of it sounds fishy. Then again SHE CLAIMS she has tons of pages worth of logs from over the last few years.

As I said, I don't want to abandon her if she really needs help; but I have been trying to help her for about three months and I don't want to waste my time if she is making it up.

Did the group happen say what they felt was going on? Would you be able to contact them and find out perhaps? If not I understand. But if so, I would appreciate it. She is trying to get ahold of John Zaffis and for whatever reason,he is not replying. I hope he doesn't know something I don't know.

Well, Alexandra, in the practice we have a term called R/O. It means Rule Out. So when I submit an initial diagnosis, I will put "Bi-Polar Disorder comorbid with Poly-Substance Abuse in remission; R/O Schtizophrenia, Delusional.

There are 3 and only 3 causes for this issues.

Mental illness.

Possession.

Attention seeking.

It sounds like you have R/Oed the first two, sorry to say. This kind of attention seeking does point to a mental illness or emotional disturbance of some sort most of the time. Try telling her things like, "You know, I like you and would find you interesting even if you weren't possessed." Minimize it when she acts out and try to not give her any attention when she does it. If you do this consistently you could extinguish the behavior.
