From A-Z, magical creatures abound. This forum might be a great place to learn about them. I thought I'd summarize one daily from 'The Element Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures' (feel free to join in or comment).

La-Tarak
In Akkadian and Assyrian mythology, La-Tarak is the lion-headed god with the body of a human male, who carries a whip and is covered in a lion’s pelt. La-Tarak wards off the effects of witchcraft, using his whip to repel psychic attack.
