The ABC' s of Magical Creatures - O is for O Goncho

Hi All,
From A-Z, magical creatures abound. This forum might be a great place to learn about them. I thought I'd summarize one daily from 'The Element Encyclopedia of Magical Creatures' (feel free to join in or comment).

O Goncho
A gigantic white winged dragon from the traditions of Japan. The O Goncho inhabited a particular stretch of water near Yamahiro. Every 50 years, it transformed into a golden bird with a cry resembling the howl of a wolf. This metamorphosis and the cry of the O Goncho were believed to presage imminent disaster.
