Which Froud book do you favour?

I thought it would be neat to see which Froud book is most favoured. Almost like a pole but a thread!

PS. Try to post your opinion without looking at the others .

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

I have to honestly say that of all of the Brian Froud books that I have ever read, Faeries is probably my favorite. Its hard though. I really liked Good Faeries/Bad Faeries too. It's probably my second favorite. Faeries has more of an ancient feel. What's your favorite?

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

I think that i'd have to say that Good faeries/Bad faeries would be my favourite.

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

oooh wow, a tricky one.....
Probably world of the Dark Crystal. great images... The faery Oracle... use all the time...
The runes of elfland though... inspired me to learn rune casting... oh I dont know!!!! All of them!!!

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

I suppose my favourite book would be... Hmmm, tough... I haven't read very many. Perhaps the Lady Cottington ones ould be interesting. I've looked through Good Faeries ad Bad Faeries or perhaps the Faerie's' Oracle.

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

Good Faeries/Bad Faeries is my favorite

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

Hmm.. I like Goblins of Labyrinth and The Secret Sketchbooks! For faeries, it would be Good Faeries/Bad Faeries and I do like the Oracle as I use that frequently.

Oops! I guess that's not just one, is it! So hard to choose!

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

Lady Cottington's Pressed Fairies, but only because I am also a Terry Jones fan. He is a leading Mediaeval specialist, and that was my specialist paper at University.

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

I've never read the Lady Cottington books but I saw the 10 3/4 addition at a bookstore today! I was nearly going to get it but it's a lot of money. One day I'll get it.

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

Yep,
Chelsea Morning!
I would say. I own most and have seen those I don't.
I love the delightfully simple paintings with a hard pull between the Second one, (which is, I believe a portrait of Joni Mitchell), accompanied by the line,
"Was a song outside my window, and the traffic wrote the words,"
and the one much later with the line,
"And the sun poured in like butterscotch and stuck to all my senses"
The paintings are exquisite and not published outside the book. Not as intensely busy as Brian's other work. Of course this is because it was created for this Children's book. Pair it with one of my favorite songs by one of my favorite singers..well...add on that I have a 2 year little girl fairy that I read it to in the mornings, and..I just love it...
Oh, hello all, Shane "Brambleberry Woodwose" here, a little mask maker in Maryland and mad faery fan.
Much Peace,
Kubiando,
Brambles

Favorite Froud Book? Chelsea Morning!

Re: Which Froud book do you favour?

how can i pick one?

i think 'faeries' and 'good faeries/bad faeries' go together- the first is an overview of the folklore/mythology, the second is more how faeries make their presence felt in everyday life-now i know i have met the likes of gloominous doom and the computer glitch!

and all the cottington books are so funny and beautiful/gross!

at the minute i am kind of entranced by the 'runes of elfland'. i have never been into runes but the pictures and stories are so magical and mysterious
