Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

In the cold light of day.

Woke up this morning and still couldn't quite believe what I witnessed. We were beaten....well beaten by a very good footballing side. But what hurts most is the fact that we didn't compete...that we didn't have any spirit, any heart, any desire. We simply didn't seem fired up for it.

I was at Firhill on Wednesday night and went to the game yesterday with some hope. 4-2 was a bit of a mountain to climb but I took some consolation from the fact that we simply couldn't play as badly as we did on Wednesday and that an early goal could make all the difference. I was right and I was wrong. we DID play as badly..in fact a lot worse....we created not a single chance in 90 mins....and I was right about the early goal - it DID make all the difference.

It was clear long before half time that we were struggling to break them down...but as always no changes were made. Like so many other have said John Martin could have made a huge difference by getting in behind them....but it seems that Baikie recalled him so that he could sit on the bench.

Bottom line for me is that many of our big players just didn't perform over the 2 games...Jabba wasn't nearly influential enough in the middle of the park and Craig O'Reilly seemed to be wearing square boots. But I don't want to be critical - these 2 were instrumental in getting us there in the first place and everyone is entitled to a bad day at the office. And thank god for Jon Smart!!!!!

We've got the nucleus of a side capable of doing something next season...we need a tactician and a motivator........

2007/08 awaits...place your bets now!!!

All the best for the summer guys....
