Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Fifers begin clear-out
EAST FIFE players Gary Kelly and Kevin McBride yesterday completed their moves to third division rivals East Stirling, just two of a host leaving Bayview.

The Fifers managed to reach the play-off final earlier this month but were completely outplayed by Queen’s Park, leaving manager Dave Baikie with a summer clearout and a massive rebuilding job ahead of him.

That has started in earnest this week as Kelly and McBride were just two of at least eight first team members whose contracts will not be renewed.

Elliot Smith, Paul Doyle and Paul Hampshire have all been told they can leave, while goalkeeper John Dodds had his contract terminated at his own request.

Midfielder Neil Jablonski informed the club last year that he wanted to go travelling in Australia and, despite delaying his departure in January to boost their play-off hopes, he has now carried through his intentions and left the club by mutual consent.

Striker Scott Crabbe is the other player not having his contract renewed but the 38-year-old will move into a coaching role.

Manager Dave Baikie has already started to strengthen his squad for the new term, having signed Raith defender Kevin Fotheringham, ex-Hibs and Dundee defender Steven Tweed, Cowdenbeath’s Graham Guy and East Stirling forward Paul Stewart.

Baikie captured 28-year-old Stewart for nothing from East Stirling, even though the Firs Park side rejected a monetary bid from the Fifers back in January.

The club has also re-signed John Martin, Stephen Fortune and Sam Linton on two-year deals— all of whom spent the end of last season on loan at junior sides.
