Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Starting XI so far?

More or less picks itself as we really need a couple of experienced signings to provide us with the required strength in depth:

Brown

Durie Muir Smart Ovenstone

Linn Young Sloan Tansey

Crawford

Hislop

Re: Starting XI so far?

the loanee from hearts looked quality today and he wont be here to sit on the bench

Re: Starting XI so far?

Why is Brown ahead of Bailie?.I have not seen Bailie make any mistakes. We are still needing a tall experienced central defender. Our two new backs Delaney and Durie look good.

Re: Starting XI so far?

Personally, from what I've seen so far, something like,.....
--------------Baillie-----------

Durie---Smart--Ovenstone--Deland

--------------Muir--------------
----Young----Sloan-----Tansey---

----<<<<<>>>>>Linn>>>>>>>>>>----
--------/----Hislop-----/-----

That side could pass back to front or equally accurately hit Hissy long to hold up for runners.
They could tuck in as required and expand in possession - down both flanks.
With subs like Brown, Crawford, Cargill, , Johnstone, Murdoch Carroll? - who would cover almost all positions.
Hope I'm not too optimistic but that looks good to me.

Best balance for a while I think.
Craw's first real Team?

And OK for the pessimists - no great strength in depth for suspensions/injuries, but if and when required, then at least a few of the U19s would then get that chance.

That's what our bench may and probably should consist of this year, if long term youth development and "grow your own" is ever to be achieved.

Re: Starting XI so far?

Love the XI by Tactician. Spot on everywhere. Linn behind Hislop in a free role too

Far better than the one at the top. To leave Deland out (and not pick Baillie ahead of Brown to a lesser extent) is nonsense.

Re: Starting XI so far?

It's about opinions

Re: Starting XI so far?

Sounds like a gid team. Couple more players to cope with injuries, suspensions and loss of form, and the squad will be there.

Hislop there for the Raith game or is he on hooneymoon?

He's got a good chance of scoring several times that afternoon. Does that answer your question?

Re: Starting XI so far?

I assume he'll be away then? Just a straight swap with Craw in Tactian's line up. The manager is a decent finisher himself.

Aye.

Re: Starting XI so far?

Linn playing in the role he has done recently is a far better asset to the team.

Re: Starting XI so far?

Aye he'd be behind/with Craw in free role drifting about wherever he wants.

Re: Starting XI so far?

I was impressed with our number 4 Murdoch yesterday too, looks like he'll be pushing for a place in the squad.
