Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Let the train take the strain.

Must be valet parking at that price.

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

Does anyone know if we will be allowed into the stadium bars?

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

I`m sure it`s £3 to get into the stadium bar.

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

Hi guys,

Structural damage was done to our main stand due to the severe winds. Contractors are on site today trying to fix. Safety inspection will take place tomorrow, to decide if the game will be on.

It is pay at the gate. Fiver to get into the bar in the main stand, but I think you get a "free" pie and pint...

Rgds from Falkirk

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

£4 to park the car, £5 to get in to the bar???

Nice to see clubs trying to encourage fans to come to the game instead of trying to rip them off.

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

Heard from a reliable source that they want an extra £2 per person at the gate to help cover the costs of repairing the stand taht was damaged due to the wind.

Then you should really consider if you are getting the most out of life.

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

From the Falkirk Hearld:

"Falkirk’s match against East Fife this Saturday is in doubt after the club’s Westfield home was damaged by high winds.

Gale force winds on Tuesday caused widespread damage across central Scotland and The Falkirk Stadium was amongst the buildings affected.

The perimeter fence alongside the pitch has been blown over, with contractors on site today to erect a replacement.

The front area of the Main Stand has also been closed to the public after several large panels became lose and are in danger of falling on to the seats below.

A safety inspection will take place tomorrow morning and a decision will then be made on whether Saturday’s game can take place"

Why ? Please explain ? Can't wait to hear your reply ?

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

Sorry if this has been said already but why can't we swap the fixture to Bayview?!?'

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

There are plenty of decent pubs in the town center. 20 min walk away. Simples. As for parking the car... College and industrial estate on the same road as the stadium, both a 5 min walk.

I think the main point here is if the game will actually go ahead. We will find out today after a safety inspection.

If it fails, I'm sure there was talk of moving it to your joint on Tuesday night.

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

Anyone know when the inspection takes place ?

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

Game on.

Great chance for the boys to make up for Monday.

Immaterial now but it is not allowed under SFA rules to switch venues for cup ties other than to neutral grounds.
If it was I'm sure Arbroath, Forfar & Peterhead would have all considered doing so!

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

Posted already, but official confirmation from the FFC website;

FALKIRK V EAST FIFE - GAME ON
Friday, 06 January 2012

Cup-tie passes safety inspection

Saturdays game against East v Fife goes ahead as normal (Kick-off 3 pm)

So - Onto the game. How do you guy's fancy your chances? How have you been playing lately. I was at the game earlier in the season, played some tidy stuff at times.

Better hope you keep El Alagui quiet...!

Re: EF v Falkirk 7 January 2012

We have no chance at all on current form and you should win by a few goals without breaking sweat. Unless, unless we can dreg up from somewhere the form that saw us beat Dunfy and Aberdeen earlier in the season.
