Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Today's Result

Unlucky today. They took their chance when it came. We dominated the game and brought three or four good saves from their keeper. Effort was there in abundance so no complaints, one of those days when we could have won four one.

Re: Today's Result

Well what a disappointing result. Played so much better than Tuesday against Albion Rovers but finished with nothing. We knocked the ball about well in the first half and had a couple of chances close to goal but McQuade put over from six yards and Muir played the ball straight at the keeper when he got on the end of a cross. Anywhere other than straight at the keeper and he would have scored. Broony wasn't really troubled in the first half.
In the Second Half we started brightly but Stenny got a cheap goal from our point of view. When we lost the ball in the middle of our half the ball was fed out to Stevie Murray who played the ball inside to Brown Ferguson at the corner of the box. Unchallenged he lifted the ball over the defence and Andy Rodgers scored from six yards. Robbo replaced Hissy, McQuade & Smith with Stoney, Dalziel and Sloan. We started to look more dangerous with Dalziel and Linn up front and the Stenny keeper made 3 or 4 good saves low to the corners. Scott Dalziel held the ball up well and won a few headers, bringing others into play. Boabby had a couple of chances coming in from each side but hit the side netting rather than going across the keeper. Broony made a couple of good saves from a Kean header then a close range effort from the sub.
All in all a decent performance and if we can continue to play like that we'll win more than we lose from now till the end of the season. A couple of observations
Too many passes were under hit in the middle of the park giving possession away cheaply. Maybe due to the AstroTurf.
Ferguson should have been shut down far quicker before he played the cross in. A couple of players didn't rush out to press the ball.
Boabby has started to look more like himself in recent games and has put defenders on the back foot. Two or three times in the first half he ended up with four and at one stage five opponents round him. Opponents obviously fear him. One thing that I feel he must eradicate from his game is turning inside in his own half and dribbling across the pitch. He has done this a number of times this season and often loses the ball giving opponents a goal scoring opportunity. The Stenny goal came from such a situation.
Let's get back on the winning trail against Brechin next week.Hopefully Ryan Wallace wil be back next week and get back on the goal trail.

Just watched the highlights from thev Stenny game, produced by Stenny, and it was shooting in for the Fife!! Couldn't believe we came away with nothing on Saturday, and that just makes me feel worse!
