Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Happy with the draw in the end. We could have been well up and home free during first 30 mins, then credit to Albion they came into the game and evened the half out.

Second half Albion were pushing when we got up the park and Ryan hit a low shot into the bottom corner from the edge of the box. Albion continued to press and they missed the biggest sitter ever (according to the fans as I was looking the other way) they then equalised with a good move. They hit the bar with a long range scorcher. As I said, happy with the point.

Albion Rovers 1 East Fife 1 match report
Feb 11 2012 By Colin Paterson

IRN-BRU SECOND DIVISION:
ALBION ROVERS 1
EAST FIFE 1
A LATE equaliser from Jordan Halsman ended a five-game losing run for Albion Rovers.
The on-loan Motherwell youngster struck with seven minutes left of Saturday’s clash with East Fife at Cliftonhill to cancel out Ryan Wallace’s opener.
Rovers handed debuts to on-loan Rangers forward Jack Werndly and former Kilmarnock attacker Dan McKay in place of the banned Tony Stevenson and John Gemmell.
Defender Barry Russell returned to the starting line-up following a hamstring injury with Halsman back after an ankle problem.
Cliftonhill boss Paul Martin was an absentee due to a virus so player/assistant manager Todd Lumsden was in charge of first-team affairs.
But it was the visitors who were quickest into their stride on a chilly afternoon in Coatbridge with two good chances in the opening 15 minutes.
A Wallace shot was turned past the post by keeper Derek Gaston with Stevie Hislop’s effort on the turn from a Scott Durie free-kick flying over the bar.
Rovers gradually found their feet. McKay drove a Stevie Canning pass into the side-netting before Werndly fired wide following a great run by Ryan McStay.
However, John Robertson’s side broke the deadlock in the 57th minute when Wallace was given too much time and space to fire home a low shot from just inside the box.
The home side could have levelled almost straight away but Scott Chaplain somehow managed to miss an open goal after rounding keeper Michael Brown.
Rovers were determined and unfortunate not to score in the 69th minute when a Halsman shot smacked off the bar.
But they picked up their first league point since Saturday, December 10 when Halsman curled a loose ball past Brown to wipe out East Fife’s advantage.
