Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Latest Score

Fantastic game of football with both teams going at each other for the whole 90 minutes.
After the first 15 minutes I thought EF would get a real doing with Arbroath's pacy forwards outpacing and out - muscling East Fife's defence with Cook in particular being culpable for both goals.
East Fife in fairness had been playing well during this dodgy period with their pace and 1 touch football causing Arbroath;s defence no end of trouble.
After Sloan's 18 yard shot and goal ,it was no surprise when EF equalised with a Hislop headed goal.
For the first part of the second half,it was all East Fife with Wallace in particular being unlucky with a 15 yard left foot volley which just went over the bar.
After Hislop went off to be replaced by Dalziel I thought that Arbroath came more into the game.
There is absolutely no doubt that EF were playing for Durie and their general play was the best I have seen in months.
On the down side Campbell went off with what looked like a thigh strain while White was sent off with 2 yellow cards with 2 minutes to go.
Good vocal support for the team from the 200 or so supporters who witnessed today's game.
i thought that the failings of central midfield which others have highlighted on other posts were remedied today with Smith Jancyk Sloan-all left footers-and Linn all working hard for the cause.
Hislop was my East Fife player of the day leading the line well and captaining the side well with vociferous encouragement when 2 nil down.
Todays performance can hopefully be a watershed for the club.

Re: Latest Score

. Superb performance all round... Players did East fife, their manager and supporters proud.. In truth we should have won that one.... But irrespective the attitude, desire and team work displayed today was way above recent efforts... So well Mr G Durie... Great start to your managerial career! Looking forward to Tuesday.... Might be. Hislop / McCormack central defence but that should work for me... Well Done!!!

Re: Latest Score

The atttude of the team was much improved from Tuesday.darren Smith was outstanding in central midfield and with Sloan and Janczyk also playing well we controlled large spells of the game.
The early goals conceded were on the break when Samuel outmuscled Campbell for the first and Cook for the second.
We kept playing good stuff and a Sloan shot from outside the box into the bottom corner brought us back into the game. The equaliser came from a good Hislop header after great work by Ryan Wallace.
We were on top for a lot of the second half but it got a bit tense late on when we lost campbell to injury[McCormack went to central defence and looked more at home].
The second yellow card for White was really soft - no more than a simple foul and we ended up with McCormack and Dalziel as our central defence.
The least we deserved was a draw. The best performance since the last game against Arbroath.

Re: Latest Score

totally agree that was our best performance since the last home game against arbroath.Thought we started well and couldnt believe we were 2 down.Campbell slipped on the muddie surfae to let samuel past him.At the second goal cook made the mistake of letting the ball bounce then samuel outmuscled him to pass to Caddis. However much to the teams credit they made a good comeback and fought for every ball, and closed arbroath down with relentless work from the midfield.Second half we made the best chances and the keeper made a wonder save from a sloan rocket from 18 yards. Then Wallace missed a great chance when shooting just over from 10 yards when he had time to controll it first.Credit where credits due that was more like the way we know we can play.Same effort and commitment for the rest of the season and we will win more than we will lose.Arbroath looked dangerous up front with a bit of pace about them, but to our credit we kept them well at bay 2nd half.
