Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Finally made it!

After all these years & failed attempts, I finally got to see East Fife play. I really enjoyed Saturday & think that you are a fantastic club.

I also sat in on the directors Q&A, which was interesting as well to get that sort of insight into the issues facing the club. I will say this, that while there will always be disagreements & clashes there are many, many clubs that would kill for that kind of communication & access.

As regards the match, I thought you played some good stuff at times. I was guessing the players but marked down no.7 as my Man of the Match; Bobby Linn as it turned out. His movement & distribution clearly caused them a lot of problems.

As for the ref...what a complete clown. Except clowns are funny. I honestly got the impression he was guessing at least half his decisions. The red card was ridiculous.

Anyway, I hope it doesn't take another 40 years to see another game. I now have an EF badge sat proudly next to my Huddersfield Town one & drank my coffee this morning from a 1938 Cup winners mug kindly bought for me by my son.

Good luck making the play-offs

Re: Finally made it!

Glad you enjoyed. We didn't play as well as we could though. Appreciate your support all the way from England, wish more locals had that same attitude and fill the ground every game.

Re: Finally made it!

Glad you enjoyed your trip. Can we borrow Jordan Rhodes for the play off push please? Him and Wallace would be frightening!!!

Re: Finally made it!

The sad thing about Jordan Rhodes is that I'm pretty sure I'm seeing his last few appearances for Huddersfield. When we inevitably blow promotion yet again, he'll be off. He has a fantastic attitude though & looks the real deal, so I hope he makes it with Scotland. His knack for just being in the right place at the right time is uncanny. Anyway, the last Huddersfield player to get a full Scotland cap was Denis Law, so we're pretty proud of him!

As for supporting your local club, it's the curse of football nowadays. I was in a pub a year or so back in Birkenhead just before a Town match at Tranmere. The place was packed full of "fans" watching Liverpool at Man Utd. When the game finished they piled out of the pub & walked right past the turnstiles of their local ground where a real match was about to start. It forever sums up in my mind what's wrong with the game nowadays.

I see he scored another brace v Orient lastnite? The guy is a goal machine. I hope u`s go up and it will be interesting to see how he fares in a higher league.
The old firm have pretty much deprived all (wee) teams in Scotland the chance of decent crowds! It destroys me to see so many supporters buses leaving local pubs to go and watch a Glasgow team. Still, a suppose being a real fan is all about watching your local team, regardless of what anybody says. Good luck with your promotion push.

He got given the first as well which was originally credited as an own goal, but was really just a deflection. That's his umpteenth hat-trick this year. I think he only needs another 3 or 4 to be our all time record goalscorer in a season, originally set when we were good & games were played in black & white.

Cheers for the good wishes anyway...here's hoping for a double celebration
