Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Re: Score v Forfar

Tremendous result today. Not there unfortunately so keen to hear how it went from those who did make the trek. What with the results today it looks like it's between us and Airdrie though 3rd place is not out of the question so it's all to play for.

26 goals for Ryan now I think, 30 is a real possibility in the form he's in. When did we last have a player who did that? Jim Corstorphine it's over to you....

Re: Score v Forfar

think any East Fife fan would have been proud of the team today.Played good football and scored good goals against a very physical Forfar team who relied entirely on long balls and long throw ins.
Felt they never coped with Ryan wallace who apart from 2 good finishes showed some fine team play.
The back 4 all did well with Campbell and Ovenstone in central defence coping well with the bombardment in the air.
We could easily have scored more but it was good to see the team fighting for each other.

Re: Score v Forfar

What was the team today?

Nearly all the other results went our way

well done boys

Re: Score v Forfar

Thought we were excellent today. Opening goal was a tremendous pass from Janczyk, who played the ball through the Forfar defence and Dalziel slotted the ball home after a one on one with the keeper. 5 minutes later Ryan Wallace scored a great header from a corner kick. We could have made it 3 or 4-0 but lost a sloppy goal from a throw in where Byers just had to tap the ball in the net. Felt at that point, before half time, we looked a little shaky and tired in defence and Forfar were getting back into the game but we did well to keep it 2-1 at HT. Second half we were well on top. Never looked like conceding and defensively we were absolutely brilliant. Wallace got his second after a brilliant run, beating 2 or 3 defenders before striking the ball in the top corner. What a goal as well! Shortly after Wallace again made a great run and set up Linn who missed an absolute sitter which would have wrapped up the game for us with plenty of time left. The winning goal came during the last minute of extra time and it was Wallace who picked the ball up and played it wide to Johnstone who then set up Dalziel to score his second smashing the ball into the open goal.
A great, solid performance from everyone today and was great to see Dalziel and Wallace scoring 2 goals each. Man of the match had to go to captain Darren Smith who was absolutely immense as usual. More of the same for the rest of the season!

Re: Score v Forfar

Great all round performance from the Fife. Praise has to go to Jukey Snr for the master stroke of playing three centre backs with McCormack playing left side of the three. Ovy had his best game for months & Campbell didn't look like someone who had been out for a month. I'm sounding like a broken record I know but Scott Dalziel just gets better & better as his confidence & fitness improves. Got an awful feeling we're just going to miss out to Airdrie for the play offs but we'll wait & see.

Re: Score v Forfar

Great performance today! God knows how we are going to keep Wallace with the way he is playing, but lets enjoy it while it lasts. His confidence is sky high just now and he is a real joy to watch.
Cant really fault any player today. Bobby isnt quite reaching the highs we know he is capable of, but it will come back in time. Also has there ever been a harder working player than Darren Smith? Immense again.
Good turnout again from the Fife faithful. We out numbered the home support at Brechin and we cant have been that far off doing that today.

Tut tut!

Re: Score v Forfar

SFL website says that Scott Dalziel wrapped it up for John Robertson's men! You couldn't make it up!

Re: Score v Forfar

A good all round team performance today must give the lads a great deal of credit as we are quick to post when we have a bad result.Forfar defence couldnot handle ryan wallace from early in the game, when only two good saves from their keeper kept the score level. The breakthrough was invetable and a superb threaded pass from jancyzck set up dalziel.A short corner from linn to sloan saw a perfect cross flicked on from wallace into the net.We then took the foot off the peddle and lost a soft goal, not dealing with a long throw.Second half was one way traffic down hill and down wind,we created a load of chances.Wallaces 2nd and east fifes third was a thing of beauty Wallace slipping three defenders before curling it into the top corner. Then a goal in injury time from dalziel capped of a great day.Only thing i would say is i dont think well meet a team as poor defensivly again this season.Smith went off with a soar back lets hope nothing to damaging.Gordon durie seems to have brought a great team spirit and what a great travelling support we had players appreciated that as you could see at the end.Well one cup final won and four to go.Lets hope we can take our away form back to methil for the next two weeks.

Re: Score v Forfar

Graeme has just showed me the 1st 2 goals, the 1st for Scott is a fantastic ball from Janni from his own half along the ground and Scott finished it off threw the keepers legs. The second is a short corner to Bob Sloan and a beautiful flighted ball from Ryan to head home.

Re: Score v Forfar

Wasn't at the game today - work :)
Did Ryan have his new boots on today? Absolutely crackin' Irn Bru belters! Well done Ryan Wallace

Re: Score v Forfar

Superb stuff today. Brilliant, brilliant to see Durie senior put Ovvy at centre and McCormack at left back. Masterstroke. Great passing football. Big fan of Dalziel - he's getting better and better. Wallace was outstanding. What a player. What about his footwork for his second?! He's taking the piss! I fear we could win our next two and Airdrie could still pip us. That said, we can beat anyone in this league. Got to credit the Board with moving Robertson on and giving the job to Durie. Instead of a relegation battle, we're in with a shout of the play-offs. Smith is brilliant, Sloan never wastes the ball - classy, Scott Durie was great today. Bobby Linn will show his stuff in the play-offs, such a talented player - the fans need to encourage him. He still shows every week what he can do.

Re: Score v Forfar

I really thought Dalziel and Wallace were excellent together yesterday. Looks like they are forming a great partnership, hopefully Scott is over his injury problems for good. Makes you wonder where we might have been had he been fit and playing all season.
