Away From The Numbers

All good things come to an end. Or so they say. AFTN has been around since 1989, first as a fanzine and then making the jump to a website and forum in 2003. We've been through the many ups and down at East Fife in those 12 years but policing the forum has become a giant pain in the ass in recent years. As such, we made the decision not to renew it when it expired.

The forum is no more and will remain as a locked archive until it is eventually deleted by the host. We're looking in to try to save some of the content as an archive.

This is not the end of AFTN though. The site will continue and will be revamped and return in its full glory for the start of the 2016/17 season. Maybe even sooner. There will be a comment sections and possibly even a new, registered forum. Check our Twitter (@aftnwebsite) for all the latest info and we'll also post in on the EFFC memories Facebook page.

Until then, have a last browse here, thanks for all your support over the years, and 'Mon the Fife.

Attendances

I see that over 2,500 spectators were at the Alloa versus Annan match yesterday to see them lift the third division trophy.
This has got me thinking. You see I would have always classed ourselves as a bigger club than Alloa in terms of support, yet lets be honest, even though our stadium only has a capacity of under 2000, we didnt sell it out when we got the championship a few years back.
We didnt sell out against the Rovers a couple of years ago, and when we had our great result against Dunfermline this season there was no more than 1,300 there.
Whats the reason for this? Economics? Poor atmosphere? The moaning brigade talked about elsewhere?

Re: Attendances

Alloa gave away about 2,000 tickets to school children for the match. I doubt they would have got that figure otherwise. However, the kids first game at Alloa would see them lifting the trophy so the kids are now more likely to go to games next season. Good move from them.

Re: Attendances

Well done to Alloa for doing that

Re: Attendances

we should be looking at some sort of give away to schools to get young ones in and watching games before they end up armchair of or man u fans

Re: Attendances

I was given free tickets when i was at primary school and loved the old Bayview experience. Unfortunately if i was a kid and was to attend Bayview for the 1st time now i probably wouldn`t be bothered about going back.
